Code of Conduct

the-new-forest-way-1
We want everyone involved in New Forest Baseball to enjoy the game, feel welcome, and represent the club with pride; on and off the field. Our club follows the British Baseball Federation (BBF) Code of Conduct, and this summary outlines the key expectations for everyone involved; players, coaches, volunteers, parents, officials, and supporters.

Please note this summary is based on the full British Baseball Federation Code of Conduct

PLAYERS

  • Play fair, play safe, and always respect the rules of the game.

  • Treat everyone with respect — regardless of age, gender, background, race, ability, or identity.

  • Support and protect the wellbeing of children and vulnerable people. Report any concerns immediately to the Club Welfare Officer.

  • Avoid abusive, discriminatory, or intimidating language or behaviour — both on and off the field, including online.

  • Represent our club and our sport positively at all times.

  • Help create an environment that encourages learning, teamwork, and enjoyment for everyone.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and club policies during training, games, and events.

COACHES / MANAGERS

  • Be positive role models — act with integrity, fairness, and honesty at all times.

  • Encourage respect for teammates, opponents, and officials.

  • Prioritise player safety and wellbeing above all else.

  • Teach the rules and spirit of the game, not just the tactics to win.

  • Create a supportive environment where all players can grow and contribute.

  • Challenge and report any inappropriate or discriminatory behaviour.

SUPPORTERS / FAMILIES

  • Celebrate effort, teamwork, and enjoyment as much as performance.

  • Show respect for players, coaches, officials, and other supporters.

  • Let coaches coach — keep feedback positive and encouraging.

  • Applaud good play from both teams, and never criticise players or umpires.

  • Remember that everyone is here to enjoy the game and develop at their own pace.

UMPIRES & SCORERS

  • Be fair, consistent, and professional at all times.

  • Place player safety and wellbeing above everything else.

  • Treat all players and coaches with respect, and expect the same in return.

  • Emphasise the spirit of the game, not just technical decisions.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  • Conduct all club business honestly, fairly, and transparently.

  • Maintain confidentiality where appropriate.

  • Promote inclusion, safety, and respect across all club activities.

  • Lead by example in upholding our values on and off the field.
